The student partnership exchange program, called SPEP, is an exchange program that now runs the second year. The sister counties, Loudoun County and Main-Taunus- Kreis established the program in 2006. The whole program is created and organised by County officials with a lot of help from employees, teachers, and volunteers in the community.

Since the first exchange, 25 students from Germany had a great experience in some of Loudouns Departments and Companies.  They get different task from their own tutor that they have to fullfill in two weeks. While working in the Departments the students learn a lot of the American policy, economy and organizing a whole county.

One day they are taken to Washington and view the monuments and sights of the city. The students also visit an high school and join an advanced German class, watch a high school football game and make a tour through Loudoun County. 

At the weekend  the students can stay with their host families or meet some of the others and go shopping or take part in one of Loudouns leisure facilities. 

Thanks to this program the students improve their spoken English, learn a lot of working, get new friends to know and have fun. It is an important part of the German-American-relationship and cares for the sister countys' connection.
